We meet the first Monday of each month (except July) at 6:30 pm. Come early — doors open around 6:00 pm if you’d like to order food and drinks before the meeting starts. If the first Monday falls on Labor Day, we meet the following week.

Catina Voellinger – August 2026

Catina Voellinger, Executive Director, Ground Game Texas

Catina Voellinger is the Executive Director of Ground Game Texas and a lifelong Texan with more than 15 years of experience in grassroots organizing, campaign management, fundraising, communications, and civic engagement. Before joining Ground Game Texas, she co-founded the nation’s first worker-owned political consulting cooperative and helped lead campaigns focused on voter engagement, community organizing, and public policy initiatives. She has built a reputation for developing innovative campaign strategies, building strong coalitions, and empowering citizens to become effective advocates in their communities.

Catina will discuss Ground Game Texas’ work supporting citizen-led ballot initiatives and local organizing efforts across the state, including how communities can use direct democracy and grassroots engagement to address local issues and influence public policy. Her presentation will provide insights into the growing role of citizen action in shaping the future of Texas communities.

District Attorney José P. Garza

June 1, 2026 — District Attorney José P. Garza

José P. Garza was re-elected as the Travis County District Attorney in November 2024 and sworn in to serve his second term on January 2, 2025. During his tenure as district attorney, he has prioritized reducing gun violence, centering the needs of survivors and victims in the criminal legal process, and rebuilding the community’s trust in the criminal justice system.

Since his election, DA Garza has focused prosecution efforts on acts of violence and developed programs to address the root causes of crime. In his first term, DA Garza created a Major Crimes and Homicides Unit, released a Four Point Plan to Reduce Gun Violence, and convened the first ever Gun Violence Summit. DA Garza also advocated for gun violence prevention strategies targeting high-risk populations, including the creation of a Travis County Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program and the implementation of a county-wide firearm surrender protocol.


Jessica Cohen – May 2026

Jessica Cohen is the newly elected County Chair of the Travis County Democratic Party, bringing years of Democratic organizing, coalition-building, and grassroots leadership to one of the most important local party leadership roles in Texas. As County Chair, Jessica is focused on year-round organizing, stronger neighborhood-level engagement, and building a more visible, accessible, and effective Democratic Party throughout Travis County.


Cedar Park City Council Night – April 2026

An evening of conversation with three leaders working to shape the future of Cedar Park: Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin (running for re-election), Darron Jurajda for Place 2, and Shweta Padmanabha for Place 6. Early Voting for this election began April 20.

Louis Malfaro, Executive Director of the Travis County Democratic Party, discussed the County Convention, midterm strategy, and the party’s path forward. A longtime political organizer and advocate, Malfaro has built his career around expanding voter participation and strengthening grassroots infrastructure.


State Board of Education District 5 Forum – February 2026

February 2, 2026 — State Board of Education District 5 Forum

All Democratic candidates running in SBOE District 5 answered structured questions at this forum, co-sponsored by Far Northwest Democrats, Four Points Democrats, North Shore Democrats, Pflugerville Democrats, and Wells Branch Democrats. The Texas SBOE sets curriculum standards, adopts textbooks, sets graduation requirements, and oversees the Permanent School Fund.


Nathan Johnson – January 2026

January 5, 2026 — Nathan Johnson

Senator Nathan Johnson, running for Texas Attorney General, shared his vision for the office. A distinguished litigator, mediator, and Texas State Senator, Johnson has authored more than 430 bills and passed 134 into law since 2019.


Celia Israel – December 2025

December 1, 2025 — Celia Israel

Celia Israel, Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector, discussed her work and commitment to effective, inclusive public service. A former Texas House member (2014–2023), she co-founded the House LGBTQ Caucus and was inducted into the Austin Women’s Hall of Fame in 2018.


Joe Jaworski – November 2025

November 3, 2025 — Joe Jaworski

Joe Jaworski, running for Texas Attorney General, spoke about his record as the 55th Mayor of Galveston, where he led the city’s recovery from Hurricane Ike.


Doug Greco – October 2025

October 6, 2025 — Doug Greco + Bylaws Update

Doug Greco, with 25 years of experience as a political organizer, discussed his campaign for the Travis County Democratic Party. The club also voted to adopt updated bylaws at this meeting.
