  • Welcome to Our New Website

We’ve launched a new home for Far Northwest Democrats — built on WordPress and designed to be easier to navigate, more mobile-friendly, and better at keeping our community informed.

    Here’s what’s new:

    • Events page — a full history of our monthly meetings, with speaker bios going back to October 2025
    • Voter Resources — an expanded hub for voter registration, ballot research, and local election links
    • News section — this page! Meeting recaps, action alerts, and club updates will live here going forward
    • Cleaner navigation — everything is now easier to find, including the Super Precinct page and contact info

Our domain farnorthwestdemocrats.org will be connected shortly. In the meantime, bookmark this site and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.

  • Meet the Board: 2025–2026 Officers

Far Northwest Democrats is led by a dedicated board of volunteers committed to building progressive power in Northwest Austin, Southwest Cedar Park, and Southwest Leander. Here are your 2025–2026 officers:

    Veronica Frederick — President

Veronica is also the Precinct Chair for Precinct 390 and has been a driving force in the club’s growth and community outreach.

    Jean Swart — Vice President

Jean serves double duty as Vice President and Precinct Chair for Precinct 394, helping coordinate the club’s communications and outreach efforts.

    Melody Norsworthy — Secretary

Melody keeps the club’s records and meeting minutes, and also serves as Precinct Chair for Precinct 387.

    Bryan Swart — Treasurer

Bryan manages the club’s finances and helps ensure our resources go where they matter most — voter outreach and community organizing.

    Kerry Stevens — Volunteer Coordinator

Kerry coordinates our volunteer opportunities and also serves as Super Precinct Chair and Precinct Chair for Precinct 393. If you want to get involved, Kerry is your first call.

Want to join the team? Get in touch or come to a meeting — we meet the first Monday of each month.

  • May Meeting Recap: Jessica Cohen, TCDP Chair

Our May 4th meeting featured Jessica Cohen, the newly elected County Chair of the Travis County Democratic Party. It was a packed house at Los Reyes Mexican Grill, with members eager to hear from the new TCDP leadership.

    About Jessica Cohen

Jessica brings years of Democratic organizing, coalition-building, and grassroots leadership to one of the most important local party leadership roles in Texas. As County Chair, she is focused on:

    • Year-round organizing (not just election-season mobilization)
    • Stronger neighborhood-level engagement through precinct infrastructure
    • Building a more visible, accessible, and effective Democratic Party throughout Travis County
    • Empowering local leaders and expanding outreach to underrepresented communities

    Key Takeaways

Jessica emphasized that the path to winning in Texas runs through sustained, year-round community organizing — exactly the kind of work Far Northwest Democrats does through our monthly meetings and Super Precinct structure. She encouraged all members to stay active in their precincts and to recruit neighbors to get involved.

Our next meeting is August 4, 2026 (we skip July). Join us at Los Reyes at 6:30 pm — or from 6:00 pm if you want to grab food before the meeting starts.
